   Formed after a chance meeting at a masked ball in London, French performer Valerie Renay and German producer Sebastian Lee Philipp have spent the last few years touring the European club circuit, picking up a Russian Music Prize for their chanson pop album ‘In Exile’ along the way…

  However, when it came to working on their latest release, the duo locked themselves away in a live-in factory on the outskirts of Berlin (at studio haven ‘Turmwerk’, founded by Chris Corner of Sneaker Pimps/IAMX.) Undisturbed by the rest of the world, they collaborated for the first time with mixing engineers David Wrench (Caribou, Bat For Lashes) and Harald Blüchel (Cosmic Baby, Energy 52) in order to bring a fresh dimension to their sound.

   The result is an album that defies the isolation it sprung from and instead, shoots straight for the dance flloor and into the soul. Harnessing pop sensibilites and a slick electronic production, ‘Affair of the Heart’ recalls the emotional energy of iconic 80s bands like Eurythmics, Tears for Fears and Depeche Mode, whilst also reaching out to fans of more contemporary favourites like Hurts, The Knife, Austra and Trust.   

   It’s a far cry from their arty beginnings in London’s electro-punk scene, but if the album’s chilling and hypnotic cover of an Eagles’ classic demonstrates anything, it’s that not only are Valerie and Sebastian braving new territories; they’re creating their own as well…

Pegasvs

   Pegasvs are Sergio Pérez García and Luciana della Villa from Barcelona, ES, both members from Thelematicos.

   Pegasvs was born in Asturias, Spain in 2010, with the recording of ‘La melodia del afilador’ Atlantico’, their second effort recorded in Barcelona, grabbed the attention of label Canada who offered them an album deal.

   Their eponymous long player debut ‘Pegasvs’ was released in March 2012, preceded by two other cuts from the album ‘El Final De La Noche’ and ‘ Brillar’.

IAMX - The Unified Field

  On February 1, 2012, it was announced via IAMX's Facebook and Twitter pages that work has officially begun on the fifth studio album, which had the working title of IAMX5. 

  On May 13, Chris announced that there will be a vlog posted on the official IAMX YouTube channel every two weeks, which would allow the fans to view the recording process of the new album. 

  On July 6, 2012 via his online blog, Chris revealed the name of a track from the forthcoming album. The song is titled "Come Home" and will most likely become a single. 

  On October 1, a new fundraising project was launched via the PledgeMusic website, which will allow fans to bid on items such as tour setlists and CDs, including the new album. 

  On October 19, it was announced that the album will officially be named  "The Unified Field"  and will be preceeded by the first single, a double A side, to be released in December.

  Sincerely I do hope that this single is just an intro to his masterpiece which we all expect impatiently.

  This song is not alike Chris we use to hear an album ago, but as his fan, I do believe that it will develope a truly symphony with the further songs and whole album :)

  "Schizophrenic modesty incarnate” is the description IAMX’s Chris Corner gives to THE UNIFIED FIELD, the follow-up to the universally lauded album Volatile Times. For those who are familiar with the music of IAMX, this description fits like a velvet-lined black glove. “I want it to move you, to f*** you and to dictate the psychology of your offspring.” In advance of the release of their fifth album in early 2013, the double A-Sided single for the title track “The Unified Field” will be released, worldwide on December 3, 2012 via 61seconds.

   At the same time primal, sensual, dangerous while also philosophical, intelligent and profound,  Corner embodies a realm that connects head, heart and heavens while still being very conscious of innate rhythms and melody. The song, “The Unified Field” is a perfect example of that. “The song is based on a scientific theory rooted in quantum physics, that intends to bring together all other scientific theories and to bridge the gaps between consciousness, spirituality and science… a theory of everything so to speak,” he explains without condescension or aloofness. 

  

“I find this idea extremely powerful and exciting. It has been floating around for millennia from Taoism to Einstein but there is more science emerging recently to back it up.

  

” While the background of the song is heady and steeped in concepts that would make Mensa blush, the song itself is an epic and expansively atmospheric track awash in echoes and space propelled by a midnight electro beat that’s equally built for a misty forest as it is for a danceclub. “This stuff keeps me awake at night with a racing heart and fired up imagination,” he continues about the song. “Some branches of quantum theory dig into the idea that consciousness pervades and creates all matter, that at the core it is what connects everything and everyone. I know all humans have this underlying nagging feeling that we are just wrapped up in a web of stuff, that particles inside us are just rearranged stardust billions of years old.”

Also included alongside remixes by Swiss electro artists We Love Machines who serve up a swirling, twitchy deep house track, and Faux Tales who rebuilds the song into a propulsive club remix, is the lilting ballad “Quiet The Mind” that highlights Chris’ trademark vocals. “I would say the production on this track 'Quiet The Mind' shows the acoustic extreme of the album,” Chris explains. “As with all IAMX records, there is a dominant electronic sound but this time more subtly intertwined with human performance. And of course the raw emotion is still a huge part of the album. It is just who I am and what I do, I can't get by without letting that stuff out.” Each of the two tracks will have accompanying videos on the single as well.

Trust - Trst

  Trust is Robert Alfons and Maya Postepski (Austra). Formed in 2009, the Toronto-based duo released its first singles, "Candy Walls" and "Bulbform" in 2011 before signing with Arts & Crafts for the 2012 release of their forthcoming debut full length, TRST.

  In the last year they've performed with DFA1979, Crystal Castles, Balam Acab, Glass Candy, and Hercules and Love Affair.

  Tales of lust, wax, and erotomania that carry along on a dense black vapor of speed, space and tears.

Olga Kouklaki

   
  Olga was born in Athens (Greece) . She starts playing the piano at the age of 8 and never quits music since: While doing her classical music studies, curiosity brings her into the electronic scene .She starts djing to greek bars and clubs and learns music production. Sept 2001 she moves to Paris djing, taking courses in interior design and contemporary music .

  In January 2003 she releases her first track in the UK (sumsonic.rec.uk) called `Don`t look at me` by the name of ODD and starts cooperating with the french label Fcommunication. She participates at the live project of Jay Alanki (aka Reminiscent Drive) and starts giving concerts as a programmer-keybord player.

   In Dec 2003 she records vocals for Fred`s Avril track `tv dinner` (album `Members Only`- Label Fcom) and in April 2004 she records vocals for Poni Hoax`s track `Budapest`(label Tigersushi). Budapest is released in December 2005, enters compilations as Fabric in the UK, ‘Les Inrocks’ mag ‘s monthly compilation in France and receives great reviews all over Europe.

   She also participates at the live project of Bang Bang (Yellow prod.) and Nouvelle Vague (Peacefrog) as a programmer-keybord player. Then, she works on her own project produced by Marc Collin (The Perfect Kiss / PIAS) . Her EP ‘Getalife’ with Blackstrobe’s remix is now in stores.

Crystal Castles – Suffocation

   Crystal Castles have released the video for "Suffocation" off their 2010 self-titled album, in collaboration with Vs Magazine. 

   They're calling it a "fashion video," and it features Alice Glass pouting and moping around an abandoned mansion wearing all kinds of fancy wardrobe.

  They are known for their melancholic lo-fi sound and their explosive live shows. 
  Expect third album from Crystal Castles this summer, until then take a look a new video!

Austra - Spellwork

  Austra are an electronic band from Toronto, ON, Canada comprising Katie Stelmanis (principal songwriter), Maya Postepski, and Dorian Wolf. They débuted with the single “The Beat And The Pulse” (November 2010, One Big Silence), and their latest release is the remix album “Sparkle” (July 2011, Domino) .

  Their début album album, “Feel It Break” (May 2011, Domino), came after a long sequence of bands for Stelmanis, representing a near ten year musical progression performing as an artist, then fleshed-out by a full band. More settled and dominant than ever, the band’s sound represents Stelmanis’ influences tightened into a shiny metal ball — pianos give way to keyboards as songs build and pull, their urgent, dark melodies arpeggiating through multiple synthesizers, wrapping themselves around Stelmanis’ voice.

  New Austra video for 'Spellwork' from their debut album Feel It Break, out now on Domino. Directed by Yelena Yemchuk.

  In the woods of this electro-goth band, people ride around menacingly on black steeds, witches decked out in black robes plot sinister acts, and a guy in a knock-off Guy Fawkes mask stalks the land. 

  The video is full of penetrating synths and harmonic melodies that will leave you wanting more.

The Frozen Autumn - Chirality (2011) & Discography

  

  The Frozen Autumn is an Italian darkwave band, formed in May 1993, characterized by a blend of melancholic vocals, atmospheric gothic-wave and 1980s-style electropop.

  The Frozen Autumn started life as the solo project of Diego Merletto, founded after several years of involvement with various darkwave groups in Turin. The singer, keyboardist and synth programmer employed the talents of guitarist Claudio Brosio during early studio sessions and live performances, then in 1995 the first album, Pale Awakening, was released under the German Weisser Herbst Produktion label. The album was well-received by gothic-wave/dark-romantic fans across Europe, and in 1997 the follow-up was released, Fragments of Memories, this time by Milan-based Eibon records.

   In 1998 Merletto co-founded a side-project called Static Movement with Arianna, who provided guest vocals on the title-track from Fragments of Memories. The duo composed together for six months and in March 1999 the album Visionary Landscapes was released. The musical style of Static Movement was not dissimilar to The Frozen Autumn, however with only electronic instruments being used, the result was a more synthetic coldwave sound. The partnership proved fruitful for both parties and so Arianna became a permanent fixture in The Frozen Autumn line-up, Static Movement remaining their "concept research project".

 

  After 18 months working on The Frozen Autumn's third album, Emotional Screening Device was released in April 2002 and hailed as the group's best album to date. They decided to leave Eibon Records in 2003 and, while contemplating offers coming in from both Italian and foreign labels, spent over two years on the next album. Is Anybody There? was finally released in September 2005 by the Argentinean label Twilight Records and German label Pandaimonium through Xymox Control.

  Merletto has since been working on his video art which has in recent years become an integral part of the band's live shows, while in addition to playing concerts all over Europe and collaborating with various artists, the duo have (as of October 2006) begun the process of reprinting The Frozen Autumn's back catalogue. In 2009, "Pale Awakening", "Fragments of Memories" and "Visionary Landscapes" were re-printed through Twilight Records. At the same, The Frozen Autumn announced that Ashes is no longer their official fan club. In September 2009, a new official forum was created.
 

   In December 2009, The Frozen Autumn published in their Facebook a "Manifesto against music killers", stating their position on music sharing over the Internet. In the same article they pointed out that they were exploited by someone who they thought as a good friend.

   In October 2010, four new songs from a new single: "Rallentears" will be performed live. The song is on their new label, Calembour Records, as a forerunner of their next album, called Chirality is released in November 2011.

Mint Julep - Save Your Season (2011)

   Formed in Boston, Massachusetts, in 2007, Mint Julep is the husband-and-wife team of Keith and Hollie Kenniff. Subsequently relocating to Portland, Oregon, the duo cut a limited release album, Songs About Snow, in 2008 – effectively a trial run for further recording in their home studio, the fruit of which is a sublime follow-up, Save Your Season, released by Village Green in August 2011.

  Hallmarked by Hollie’s seductive, dreamy vocals and a succession of memorably soaring choruses, all of it etched with Keith’s vivid, glinting keyboards, towering guitars and miscellaneous instrumental hooks, Mint Julep make lustrous modern pop music that is wistful and mellifluous yet simultaneously powerful, even epic – equal parts shoegazing romanticism and cool, Kraftwerkian polish. 

  Their songs seem instantly familiar, like old musical friends, a ’classicism’ offset by the freshness and luminosity they exude as they usher you on a breathless ride through the sunlit uplands of electronic indie-rock.
 

  Mint Julep was designed as a conscious departure from Keith’s previous, ambient-orientated projects. “When Hollie and I set out to do something, I wanted to find some way to incorporate her vocals into a slightly different style, rather than just write similar material to my solo work and lay her vocals over top”, he says. “I had the need to write something that had some distorted guitars, loud drums and was a little bolder than what I had previously done. We messed around with a track one night (which became ‘Stay’) and it was a fun process, so we just kept writing more songs so we could do a project together.”

   Soon a working pattern emerged, with Keith composing music around Hollie’s lyrics or making tracks which Hollie would then add to. “It just developed after a lot of trial and error, and after a while the material started to plateau and began to sound like an album…”

A Pennsylvannian by birth, Keith Kenniff is an honors graduate of Boston’s esteemed Berklee College of Music, best known as the brains behind dulcet ambient/electronic practitioners Helios and the fingers on the ivories of post-classical piano minimalists Goldmund (the latter’s music once described by no less an authority than Ryuichi Sakamoto as “…so, so, so beautiful…”).

  A succession of albums under those aliases has made Kenniff the darling of discerning critics and his music has also been widely used in film, television and advertising, not least on the soundtrack to Harmony Korine’s 2007 comedy-drama Mister Lonely and the trailer for the 2009 Academy Award-nominated Revolutionary Road, directed by Sam Mendes.

   Originally from Ohio, singer Hollie Kenniff maintains dual US/Canadian citizenship, having spent part of her life in Ontario. Aside from Mint Julep, she has collaborated on several additional musical endeavors in tandem with husband Keith, including a children’s music project, Meadows (inspired by the couple’s young son), whose debut longplayer was recently released, and an ambient diversion under their own names. An album of the latter, A Deep and Dreamless Sleep, is slated for later in the year.

Mint Julep’s ultra-rare Songs About Snow debut is also set to live again in the near future, remixed, remastered and with additional tracks.

The Opiates - Anatomy of a Plastic Girl

   The Opiates is a collaboration project between Billie Ray Martin and Robert Solheim that began 3 years ago when they performed songs together (including Anatomy of a Plastic Girl) at the Rough Trade record shop.
   They are set to release their debut album, Hollywood Under the Knife, next month. Anatomy of a Plastic Girl is the second single and explores the devastating consequences of a hopeful Hollywood starlet who is scarred emotionally and physically by a botched facelift. 
   The Opiates are radical because they do not shy away from the rare match of songwriting and cutting-edge beats and bleeps.
  The Opiates will boldly go where the best of electronic duo crossover albums have gone before and will appeal as much to the charts as to the underground, to film and television as much as radio and beyond.
  Their debut album "Hollywood Under The Knife" will be released on Disco Activisto Records on 21st October 2011.

Flying Turns - As Good As

   French Cold New wave band Flying Turns from Paris, with beautiful deep dark voice and energetic post punk guitar riffs made such a great videos that make me excited to find a real high-quality band that reminds a lot to Joy Division, the first album of Depeche Mode, Bauhaus, Devo and so on..

   One of the band members is Gesaffelstein, a french producer of techno/electro music.

  Their first single was called as good as, listen to this promising and talented trio. Enjoy!!

IAMX - Bernadette

  IAMX released their long awaited 2nd single from their recent album  "Volatile Times"

 BERNADETTE is it called and tells a story about “a person of  great importance to me.”,  Chris says. “A child of  the infinite and a woman I will always adore. The timeless Bernadette. Curious., fragile, stubborn, beautiful, demonic.  And in need of  a little protection.”

  Bernadette’s music video directed by Berliner Fabian Roettger will also be published on the same day along with the German version by Chris. Releases will be available for download on IAMX’s official website

   It is absolutely inspiring, dark and intense with its whole artistic beauty.
   It's really hard to comment such a big & genius piece of  art especially when it's coming from very complexing artist Chris Corner.
  His emotions, loneliness is a kind of suffering, a heavy prison, burden and a crucifix.. He is giving all that in every word, song, live act.
  His destructive act destroys and crushing it all away, gives him a new skin, breath, regenerate him to live and sing through circle of its volatile times, wandering through dark journey, waiting for a tender soft touch of daylight and more again.

  So much love for this man!!!
